I (like most of the population) cannot survive without my coffee! I need that caffeine kick in the morning, and sometimes later in the day, just to get through my daily life. However, unlike most people, I actually enjoy the taste of black coffee (weird, I know). This actually saves me a lot of calories, however, because even just adding some almond milk to coffee adds on extra calories. And let’s face it, as a lifter trying to build muscle and gain strength, we are ALWAYS hungry. Why would we want to drink our calories instead of actually eating them? So my suggestion is to go for the black coffee! Yes, it may taste like gasoline at first, but you will get used to it. Plus, it has a lot of benefits for bodybuilding!

With all these benefits, why would you not drink black coffee?! I am such a big believer in black coffee that I drink it instead of a pre-workout supplement. I feel like the only part of a pre-workout that my body really needs is the caffeine, which I can get from black coffee instead. As a health-minded 20-year-old female, I feel as though pre-workout supplements have a lot of other chemicals in them that my body definitely doesn’t need, and they can adversely affect my heath in the future. Many times pre-workout supplements get recalled from the shelves, and sometimes banned, because of the unnecessary and harmful chemicals in them.
So my advice to you whenever you have coffee is to go with black coffee! It has so many benefits for overall health and anyone who works out vigorously, and it is so much healthier for you than any pre-workout supplement. Yes, the taste may be rough at first without your cream and sugar, but I promise you will get used to it (and maybe actually enjoy it like I do). So drink it black! Your body will thank you now and in the future!
